Fall Rehearsals Have Begun
September 20, 2012
Welcome back from your summer break! We’re very excited about the season to come. If you weren’t able to make it to the first few rehearsals, by all means, join us this week. A few administrative items… Thank you to Scott Schrank, who was able to procure for us a new arrangement of James Bond tunes which was done by the American Legion band director. Thanks to the volunteer conductors who stepped forward from the ranks to rehearse on September 11th: Scott Schrank, Bev Gross, Katie Wiese, Del Schmidt (our new tubist), and Charlie Marsh.
Having the Halloween Kids Concert on November 6th (Election Day) is probably not a good idea. The Rec. Dep’t has worked hard and have moved our concert to the cafeteria on October 30th. Other concerts are currently scheduled for December 11, March 19, and May 14 as you can see on the upcoming events to the left.
If someone is not going to be at rehearsal, please contact your section leader.
Donna is looking at a couple possibilities for themes for concerts, but would welcome any suggestions anyone has, feel free to use the contact page for that info. One theme which will perhaps go throughout our season is “Upon Request.” Whenever any of you has made a suggestion for a particular tune, it has been dutifully noted, some going back to 2003. Several of these items have been purchased and will be programmed throughout the year.
Last year brought with us the highs of excellent performances, challenging repertoire, and good camaraderie. It also brought us the lows of the untimely death of two of our cherished members. We are more than a band, and more than a community band; we are also a community. Join us and share in that community in the coming year. Anyone with any level of musical ability is welcome.
