The Wauwatosa Community Band will be presenting their Spring Concert on May 19th, 2026 at 7:30pm at our usual venue at Longfellow Middle School.
But you have never SEEN a concert like this.
The main attraction will be Pictures at an Exhibition, by Modeste Mussorgsky, which is a multi-movement work where each section is based on a different work of visual art. Oboist and graphic design genius Charlie Marsh has created an interactive media experience to accompany the band’s performance, which mean we actually WANT you to bring your phone or device, and WATCH them during our concert! You’ll SEE the paintings, PROMENADE thru the hallways, and READ tidbits of information about the paintings and music throughout our performance. So bring your phones or tablets with you! We’ll have some tech experts to help if you’ve never scanned a QR code before, but you can always just type in the address.

Do you love a band concert, but hate that there’s not enough silliness? Well, have we got the show for you! Please join us on Tuesday, when we’ll have a variety of great music for the adults (including a howl-along?!), and so much entertainment for the kiddos. We’ll have a costume parade, audience participation, skits, narration, and of course, treats afterwards! If you’ve always wanted to take your kids to a concert, but fear them being wiggly or making too much noise, this is a great opportunity–we don’t care about that stuff! We want you to come, have a great time being ridiculous while enjoying great music, get sugared up, then take those kiddos home!
PLUS, you can get one more use out of that Halloween costume they only wore for a few hours: everyone in costume gets in FREE! Tickets for the non-costumed adults are $5 and non-costumed kids and seniors are $3.

Our Spring Concert, titled Comedy Tonight! is less than a week away! Come out for a thoroughly enjoyable night with pieces truly showing the full gamut of what this band is capable of. We have some absolutely hilarious pieces by P.D.Q. Bach, and some Disney favorites. At the other end of the scale, we have Circus Franticus, and Holst’s Jupiter!
You have never been to a concert like this. If you think concert bands only play serious music, get ready to laugh out loud. If you’ve ever wondered what a trumpet mouthpiece sounds like by itself, you are in for a treat. If you think that a group of “amateurs” can’t play anything difficult, we’re about to blow you away.
Follow us on facebook to get some cute little previews of our music!
